Walks in the Dandenong Ranges Suitable for Wheel Chairs
Not many of the walks in the Dandenongs are suitable for wheelchair users, mainly due to the undulating terrain.
The Margaret Lester walk in the Grants Picnic Ground Reserve is specially designed for wheelchairs and it has a sealed pathway.
A great bit of news though is that Parks Victoria provides access to a motorised all-terrain wheelchair – called a TrailRider. It is available to be booked at the Grants Picnic Ground Cafe, please make an advance booking on 03 9755 2888
The Trail Rider could mean access to some super walks from Grants Picnic Ground. The staff at the cafe will be able to give advice on suitable tracks when the TrailRider is booked.
Some of the walks listed on this site may be suitable and it is entirely up to each person to make the decision as to whether they can manage the tracks listed below. Some of the walks may include gentle hills and help may be required depending on the type of wheelchair and fitness levels. Please read the complete walk notes carefully.
These walks are not officially designated as wheelchair friendly. It is strongly advised to have someone with you who can help if needed and who can pre-walk the track to decide for yourselves if it is suitable for your particular wheelchair.
